One dead after accident on Route 4

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- One person was killed after an accident Monday afternoon in Route 4 in Upper Marlboro involving three vehicles, including a bus.

According to Maryland State police, the accident happened at around 3 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 4 between Route 301 and the Anne Arundel County line.

The accident involved a tour-type bus, a minivan and a small SUV. The person killed was in the SUV, police said.  

Two other people were injured in the crash, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police did not say what vehicles they were in. 

Route 4 is closed heading westbound at Upper Marlboro Pike.

Maryland State police are investigating the accident.
