Bridal Boutique Giving Away Dresses To Military Brides | News
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA) -- A Prince George's County wedding dress boutique wants to make a dream come true for brides with ties to the military. It is giving away wedding dresses next month.
Couture Miss Bridal & Formal will give away a limited number of dresses to active-duty military members or fiancées of active-duty military July 12 and 13. To qualify, a woman must be engaged and planning a wedding in the next 18 months. Couples who have only had a civil ceremony are also eligible.
The bride or her fiancé must be active duty and scheduled to deploy to Iraq, Afghanistan, or Qatar, or deployed there some time in the last five years and never had a formal wedding ceremony.
"Active duty service members give themselves selflessly in order to provide us with a sense of security and protection," said Ephonia Green, owner of Couture Miss Bridal & Formal. "Giving these dresses away is a small way of expressing my gratitude for all the sacrifices they make."
Couture Miss Bridal & Formal is at 14703 Main Street, Suite 1, in Upper Marlboro, Md. A limited number of dresses will be given away between 11:00am and 4:00pm on Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13. Women hoping for a free dress must bring a driver's license, military ID, and copies of deployment papers stating the date of her deployment or deployment of her fiancé.
The giveaway is part of a national program called "Brides Across America." It is a non-profit organization helping local shops support American troops.
