Suspect Was Handcuffed When He Was Shot By Officer | News
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) - Prince George's County police have confirmed that the suspect shot on Thursday night in District Heights at the intersection of County Road and Foster Street was handcuffed at the time.
The officer, identified as Sgt. Johnnie Riley, discharged his gun to stop the escape of a man the officer had arrested for stealing a motorcycle. On Friday afternoon, a police spokesperson said that Kalvin Kyle was shot in the back.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The officer, an eight-year veteran of the department, was placed on administrative leave.
The incident is under investigation.
