Police: MD Man attacked woman in front of children


UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man they say attacked a woman in front of children.

Leonard Smith of Temple Hills was arrested on August 21st and has been charged with first and second degree assault.

The assault occurred on August 21st when Smith became involved in an argument with a woman. Smith then spit in the woman's face, wrestled her to the ground, held a knife to her throat, and threatened to kill her, the arrest warrant stated.

Children witnessed the attack and ran to a nearby neighbor who called police, the warrant said.

Sheriff's Deputies were able to find Smith at a residence in Northeast D.C. Smith was taken into custody without incident and eventually extradited back to Prince George's County.

Smith is being held on 25,000 dollar bond.


MD man arrested for attempted murder


UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Maryland man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Quanzion Bembo Wilson got into a fight with two people while in line at a Temple Hills store on August 23rd, the Prince George's County Sheriff's office said.

When the two people left the store, Bembo-Wilson allegedly took out a gun and fired several rounds at the two people, ultimately shooting one victim in the head, the sheriff's office said.

Bembo-Wilson was on probation when police issued a warrant for his arrest for the August 23rd incident, the sheriff's office said. Police were able to take him into custody when he appeared for his parole check-in at the Parole and Probation Division in Temple Hills, Maryland.

Bembo-Wilson has been charged with two counts of attempted 1st degree murder and firearm use during a felonious crime.

Suspect still sought in 3-year-old girl's death


PALMER PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police are still looking for Davon Antwan Wallace, who is wanted for the murder of three-year-old Knijah Bibb.

Bibb was shot and killed while inside a Landover home on August 10. A funeral was held for the girl last week.

Child support hearing yields attempted murder arrest in PG


UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man was arrested for attempted murder during a child support hearing in Prince George's County, Sheriff's officials said.

Damon Palmer, of Washington, was attending the hearing on Monday, when deputies moved in and took him to jail, Prince George's County Sheriff's officials said.

The attempted murder charge stems from an incident at the 4000 block of Murdock Street in Temple Hills, on June 16, Sheriff's officials said.

Palmer confronted another male and "…accused him of messing with his girlfriend." The verbal dispute turned physical prior to Palmer leaving the location. The warrant further states, that later that afternoon Palmer returned to the Murdock Street address with a handgun and fired several shots in the victim's direction as he answered a knock at his door, Sheriff's officials said.

2 people dead in Md. vehicle collision


UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two people are dead after a vehicle collision that happened in Upper Marlboro Friday night, Prince George's County Police Department said.

The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Aarrayn Perez of Upper Marlboro and 66-year-old Barbara Armes of SE, D.C., police said.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ritchie Marlboro Road and North Riding Road. Two cars were involved in the accident, police said. Both the driver and the passenger in one of the cars involved were pronounced dead on the scene, according to Prince George's County Police Department.

Prince George's man arrested at BWI for stolen gun


BALTIMORE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Prince George's County man was arrested at Baltimore-Washington International airport after trying to sneak a stolen gun past a security checkpoint.

TSA officers detected the 9mm handgun loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition in the Upper Marlboro, Md., man's carry-on bag as he was passing through the airport checkpoint, Department of Homeland Security officials said. The TSA officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine detected the handgun inside the traveler's carry-on bag as it passed along the conveyor belt. He was ticketed to fly to Detroit.

TSA officers contacted the Maryland Transportation Authority Police who responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the firearm and arrested the man. A check on the firearm determined that it had been reported as stolen in Portland, Oregon. There was no impact to airport operations.
