Police: Man tried to abduct teenage girl in Upper Marlboro

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police are looking for a suspect who they say tried to abduct a 16-year-old girl Thursday evening.

It happened around 5 p.m. on November 6 in the 1700 block of Robert Lewis Avenue.

The teenage girl was walking by a basketball court on her way home when a man grabbed her and tried to force her into nearby woods, according to police. She was able to pull away from the suspect and was not hurt, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'6" and 130 lbs. He was wearing a gray beanie and a gray and yellow jacket, according to police.

Detectives will canvass the area Friday evening starting at 5.

Suspect wanted in Upper Marlboro attempted abduction

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A suspect in an attempted abduction that happened Thursday evening in Upper Marlboro, Md. is being sought by Prince George's County Police.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of Robert Lewis, Ave, according to the Prince George's County Police. The victim was able to run away from the suspect, police said.

The suspect is being described as a a black man, 5'6'' tall, and 130 pounds. He was wearing a gray beanie, and a gray and yellow jacket at the time of the incident, authorities said.

Attempted 2nd degree murder suspect arrested in MD

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man wanted for attempted second degree murder.

Jerome Williams Jr. of Suitland has been arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and using a dangerous weapon openly with intent to injure.

On January 30th 2013, Williams and a male victim were drinking together for several hours before driving to pick up Williams' girlfriend. Williams and his girlfriend began arguing at which point the victim asked to be dropped off at his residence, police said.

2 PG County police officers indicted for separate assaults

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two Prince George's County police officers have been indicted for two separate assaults on teenagers, officials announced Thursday.

One assault happened at a high school and the other assault happened at a jail, officials said. Both are captured on video and involved two young men, according to Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks.

Officer Charles Pickard, a resource officer at Suitland High School, has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office for allegedly assaulting a then 17-year-old student on November 12, 2013, according to officials. It happened in a hallway at the school after a verbal exchange, Alsobrooks said.

Md. man, 21, arrested on child porn charges

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Maryland State Police Department arrested a 21-year-old Md. man in connection with child pornography distribution, authorities said.

Travin Deon Butler, 21 of Upper Marlboro, Md. was arrested Wednesday after an investigation led to several files of child pornography that were being distributed to online services, police said.

Police found several items of digital media to include computers, cellular telephones and CD/DVD's as a result of the search warrant, authorities said.

Butler is being held pending a hearing with the Prince George's County District Court Commissioners Office, police said.
